Launch of the 14th edition of TOLAC in Banjul

On 15 May 2026, the launch ceremony for the 14th edition of the ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament (TOLAC) was held in The Gambia. The ceremony was presided over by the Honourable Bakary Y. BADJIE, the Gambian Minister for Youth and Sport, in the presence of several figures from the sporting world, including His Excellency Francis Chuks NJOAGUANI, Director of the Centre for Youth and Sports Development, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in The Gambia, as well as officials from the Gambian wrestling community. ECOWAS Member States are taking part in the competition both as teams and in individual weight categories: 66 kg, 76 kg, 86 kg, 100 kg and 120 kg. TOLAC is a sporting competition that also promotes gender equality. To this end, women are also taking part in the competition. The opening ceremony featured cultural performances.
