#National_Youth_Sports_Games: the CDJS/ECOWAS is providing the organising committee with 9 million CFA francs The Youth and Sports Development Centre of the Economic Community of West African States (CDJS/ECOWAS) provided, on Thursday 17 August 2023, financial support for the organisation of the first edition of the National Youth Sports Games, scheduled to take place from 24 August to 2 September 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso. This invaluable support took the form of the signing of an agreement at the CDJS/ECOWAS headquarters in Ouaga 2000, between the Centre’s Director, Mr Francis Chuks NJOAGUANI, and the Technical Secretary of the Youth Sports Programme, Mr Abdallah GOLO, representing the Minister for Sport, Youth and Employment, Dr Boubakar SAVADOGO. According to the Director of the CDJS/ECOWAS, supporting the organisation of these national games is in line with the objectives of his organisation, which is to contribute to the development of young people in the fields of sport, entrepreneurship and any other area aimed at strengthening young people’s capabilities and securing their future. This agreement, signed on Thursday, commits both parties to a process of development in both sport and youth affairs, and is fully in line with the policy for developing the next generation of athletes, championed by the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE. Among the points of the agreement is the provision of support to the department responsible for sport in terms of visibility throughout these games, for the benefit of the CDJS/ECOWAS. With the CDJS/ECOWAS having set the tone, the organising committee is urging partners who are still hesitant to act swiftly, as this major event dedicated to young talent is not only a platform for expression but also a meeting point for all stakeholders involved in the field of training and the development of young sporting talent in Burkina Faso. The National Youth Sports Games will take place from 24 August to 2 September 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso and will bring together all the youth sports training schools in the thirteen (13) regions of Burkina Faso, as well as private sports training organisations for young athletes across seven sporting disciplines.
