New Year’s message from the Director of the CDJS, Acting Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso

New Year’s message from the Director of the CDJS, Acting Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso The year 2023 drew to a close, bringing with it a mix of emotions, opportunities, challenges and, above all, hope for our region. A new year begins, promising joy, happiness and fulfilment. As we enter the new year 2024, I would like to wish all ECOWAS staff in Ouagadougou, and their families, a time of peace, happiness and prosperity. In my capacity as Acting Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso, I commend the sacrifice made and the quality of the work carried out by the staff, often in difficult and uncertain circumstances. I appreciate the friendliness, camaraderie and courtesy shown over the past year, which have undoubtedly helped to foster a positive working atmosphere within our departments and to achieve results that are, in some cases, unprecedented. Your sustained commitment within your departments reinforces the Commission’s determination to build an ECOWAS of the peoples, with peace and prosperity for all by 2050. I would like to express my satisfaction with this constant commitment and invite you to continue promoting these fundamental values for the flourishing of our Community and the realisation of ECOWAS’s vision. I would like to take this opportunity to commend and pay tribute to Their Excellencies Tiéna Coulibaly, former ECOWAS Resident Representative in Burkina Faso, and Kouassivi Bougonou Djeri-Alassani, former Director of the ECOWAS Water Resources Management Centre (CGRE), now retired, for the progress achieved during their terms of office. I once again wish you every success, good health and happiness in your well-deserved retirement. I also welcome Mr Kouakou Alexis Kouassi, the new Director of the CGRE, to our small ECOWAS family in Ouagadougou, extending a warm welcome to him and wishing him every success in his new role. I express the hope for a region where the people can regain their peace of mind, so that ECOWAS may fully fulfil its role of integrating peoples in peace and shared prosperity. A very Happy New Year 2024 to you all. Amb. Francis Chuks Njoaguani ECOWAS Resident Representative a.i. in Burkina Faso
