The Interim Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso receives the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel in audience The Interim Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso, Francis Chuks NJOAGUANI, received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel in audience on Thursday, 7 March 2024, at the premises of the ECOWAS Permanent Representation, H.E. Leonardo Santos SIMAO, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, who is currently on an official visit to Ouagadougou. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues relating to regional peace and security. The two diplomats also discussed the political and security situation in Burkina Faso, as well as this member state’s decision to withdraw from ECOWAS. The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General was accompanied by his Special Assistant, his Senior Political Adviser and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System and Acting Humanitarian Coordinator for Burkina Faso. -------------END-----------------
