International Women’s Rights Day Message from His Excellency Francis Chuks NJOAGUANI, Director of the CDJS/ECOWAS and Acting Resident Representative of ECOWAS in Burkina Faso Today, 8 March, the international community commemorates the 167th International Women’s Day. This commemoration symbolises our commitment to the empowerment of women, equality, social justice and peace throughout the world. Women are a vital part of our community, and ECOWAS is committed to enabling them to contribute to community development and regional integration. We commend the work they are doing for the West African region and for improving the living conditions of communities. In a region marked by challenges relating to peace, security and socio-cultural constraints that hinder their progress, they remain resilient in the face of these trials and fulfil their role as key players serving their communities. This selfless dedication and great sacrifice are to be commended. I commend the excellent work carried out by the women of the ECOWAS Centre for Youth and Sports Development and those of the ECOWAS Permanent Representation in Burkina Faso in implementing community and regional integration policies for an ECOWAS of the peoples, for peace and prosperity. I pay tribute to all the women who are fighting for a better ECOWAS and a better world! Let us invest in women and accelerate progress! Happy Women’s Day to you all!
