Technical training: referees learn the rules of African wrestling

The ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament is a major sporting event organised by the ECOWAS Centre for Youth and Sports Development. This year, the 13th edition is being held in Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria. In the run-up to this event, which will take place from 6 to 8 March 2025, a technical training course was organised for the competition’s referees. The aim was to refresh their knowledge of the rules governing African wrestling in order to ensure the matches are managed as effectively as possible. The training session brought together referees from Senegal, Ghana, Togo and other countries in the region. The TOLAC is a sporting event that helps to promote the values of sport, wrestling and African culture.
