International Women’s Day 2025

Today, the whole world is celebrating International Women’s Day. This symbolic day provides an opportunity to reflect on the public and regional policies that form the essential foundation for improving the situation of women in West Africa. This involves mainstreaming gender through inclusive policies. In line with its Vision 2050, ECOWAS is working to increase women’s participation in the economic and social sectors in order to reduce gender inequalities. In the fields of sport, youth and volunteering in West Africa, the CDJS/ECOWAS is contributing to this drive through concrete initiatives promoting gender equality. Today, we are delighted to pay tribute to the women who have distinguished themselves through their exceptional performances at the 2025 editions of the ECOWAS International Marathon and African Wrestling Tournament, held this March 2025 in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality #WomenForChange
