Through initiatives focused on employability, entrepreneurship, volunteering, civic participation, social inclusion and the promotion of sport, the CDJS has strengthened its role as a regional platform for coordination, dialogue and action. The activities carried out since its creation have directly reached thousands of young people and stakeholders, whilst fostering strategic partnerships with Member States, civil society organisations, the private sector and technical and financial partners. The activities carried out by the ECOWAS Centre for Youth and Sports Development (CDJS) are fully aligned with the Community’s strategic vision, in particular its fundamental pillars dedicated to inclusive transformation, sustainable development and social inclusion. The CDJS acts as a key mechanism for the implementation of the Agenda 2050 ‘An ECOWAS of the Peoples’, placing young people, sport and volunteering at the heart of regional integration and socio-economic progress. Its work contributes directly to peace-building, the promotion of Community citizenship, and the creation and strengthening of human capital – all essential factors for the resilience and prosperity of West Africa.
